bir insanın yaşaması için temel gereklilikler nedir? hava, su, yiyecek. bu gün insanlık en temel ihtiyacını havayı iklimini ve güneşini kaybediyor. bu durum karşısında çaresiz değil ama duyarsız. ocak ayını yaşıyoruz ve istanbul 20 derece gibi sıcakları yaşıyor ülkemizin doğusu dengesiz soğuklar kar fırtınaları altında ve birde büyük bir kuraklık.
elimizdeki bu kadar veriye rağmen gerek hükümetler gerekse yurttaşlar hiçbir şey yapmıyor devlet olarak kyoto antlaşmasını imzalamamışız. herhangi bir önlem alınmamışız ve çevre bakanlığı denilen kurum kelimenin tam anlamıyla uyuyor.
toplumu yönlendirmesi gereken medya ise küresel ısınma kelimesini ağzına dahi almak istemiyor. elbette bu durum normal petrol baronu bir medya patronu var bu ülkede ve insanlar muazzam bir duyarsızlık içinde kendi kıyametlerini müjde kış gelmiyor haberleri ile alıyor.

belki dünya kurulduğundan beri ilk defa bir kuşak daha az tüketmek sloganları atmaya başladı artık yeni bir sofra takımı ile atmosfer arasında bir tercih yapmamız gerekecek ve bu tercihlerimizi yaparken yarını bizden sonra gelecekleri düşünmemiz gerekli. ingiliz yazar, akademisyen ve çevreci aktivist george monbiot bizlere böyle sesleniyor.
sunduğu çözümler içersinde kişisel karbon kota uygulaması var her bireyin bireysel bir karbon emisyon kotası olmalı diyor monbiot böylece insanlar ne kadar uçabileceğini ve araba kullanabileceğini klimalarını söküp atmayı, mahalle bakkallarını kullanmaya başlayabilir. bu uygulama aslında zenginden fakire servet akışını da sağlayabilir. komik olabilir ama bu gerçek mesela kotasını aşmış bir insan kotasını kullanmamış bir bireyden ücreti karşılığında kota satın alabilir.
